1. What are the pros and cons of email lists versus discussion boards?

(1) Email Lists
(a) Pros
You can receive a particular kind of news or articles from a group you are interested in, and you dont have to reply it. The information will be sent to the email box automatically and they are updated, which saves a lot of time on checking different sorts of informations.
(b) Cons
you cant join into the communication talking when you wanna share your views on some particular topics, and besides this, sometimes you dont wanna read these information or you have lost the interest but they still keep coming.

(2) Discussion Board
(a) Pros
you can join a group pf people who have the same intersets, and you can communicate with them effectively. the difference from email list is that you can decide your activities all depending on your time schedule.
(b)cons
sometimes the massages from discussion board are not refered to the particular topics.


2. Are there certain kinds of communication or purposes more suited to one than the other?

For email lists, commercial topics might be more suitable, coz they can be updated automatically, and they 100% suits your requirest from particular products or topics.

For discussion boads, this is a much widely platform. like our webCT discussion board, it provides an opportunities for students for their studies, they can ask questions, and communicate everything on the topics they join. what is more, it also suits for people on the topics for their outter life, people could talk about sports, music, movies, and everything on their particular topics if possible.
